TASTING ROOM ASSOCIATE

Location: Schram Vineyards (Waconia)

Schram Vineyards is looking to add several new Tasting Associates to our team this busy season!  If you love working with people, being surrounded by wine in a beautiful atmosphere, and can work in a fast-paced multi-faceted environment, we’d love to meet you!  The tasting room is Schram Vineyard’s window to the public and guests’ interaction with our staff has a direct impact on their experience with our facility and brand.  Tasting Room Sales Associates conduct the tasting and sale of wine, beer, and food while providing an exceptional customer experience to each visitor. This position requires excellent communication skills with teams, customers, and other associates as well as the ability to converse easily with many people from diverse backgrounds. Tasting Room Associates are also responsible for assisting with special events held both on-site and off-site. We are looking for a go-getter to help us grow the Schram brand and be a consistent personality to our guests. This is not just a bartender position as associates will be trained to help educate guests on our wine and beer products.  As a growing business, associates may have opportunities to expand their roles or gain experience in other areas of the company.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Greet and serve guests to include wine/beer tasting and educate in a manner consistent with the Schram Vineyards brand

  • Learn our story and sell our wines and beer with enthusiasm maintaining a relaxed environment

  • Maintain a clean and tidy bar area

  • Restocking of wine, changing of kegs

  • Helping with kitchen and food prep

  • Help meet sales goals

  • Promote and sign up for Schram Club memberships

  • Participate in special club events

  • Follow opening and closing procedures to maximize efficiency

  • General housekeeping includes, but is not limited to, sweeping, dishwashing, and window cleaning. Availability to workweek hours and weekends.

  • Communicate with guests, co-workers, and business associates courteously and professionally. Must be people and hospitality oriented

  • Inventory Control

  • Perform other duties as required

  • Maintain positive customer service and team player attitude

  • Know and be able to work in the kitchen on a rotating shift

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • High school diploma or equivalent

  • 2+ years experience in customer service

  • 2+ years experience in the wine industry or hospitality is a plus

  • 2+ years experience in sales is a plus

REQUIREMENTS

  • TECHNICAL — Basic working knowledge of spreadsheets and word processors to access information needed

  • Ability to use or learn POS and inventory management system in prescribed style and format

  • GENERAL — Comprehension of basic mathematics to complete customer transactions.

  • Must be at least 21 years of age

  • Must have a basic understanding of wine and craft beer 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. Frequently required to stand, walk, use hands and fingers to handle or feel objects and/or keyboard. This job requires being on your feet for long periods. Required to reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, or crouch. Must be able to lift and/or move up to 50 lbs. Specific vision abilities include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. This job requires the use of the computer, phone, and email.

Job Type: Part-time, 6-20 hours a week in the tasting room –

TASTING ROOM LEAD

Location: Schram Vineyards (Waconia)

Schram Vineyards is a family owned and operated full production winery and tasting room located in Waconia, Minnesota.  The Tasting Room Lead’s responsibility is centered around ensuring the daily needs of the tasting room, customers  and employees are met in the absence of the Tasting Room Manager.  This position will oversee the staff and floor of a daily shift and given the training they need to handle key day to day functions within the tasting room. They will be expected to solve issues as they arise, direct all employees on shift and ensure the daily needs of the business are met.  This role will also assist with projects relating to the tasting room including upkeep, event set up/execution and ongoing staff training.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Ensure the tasting room is clean and ready for daily operations and create a welcoming environment for the customer

  • Set the standard for staff in professionalism, cleanliness, service and attitude

  • Ensure any private event/tasting set up needed is done

  • Manage money for the day from drawer counts to drops, payouts and tip distribution

  • Ensure tasting room staff is following all procedures and protocols throughout the day

  • Give feedback and coaching to newer tasting room staff

  • Manage customer flow so that all guests feel welcomed and receive good service

  • Float between job roles throughout the day, giving an extra hand where needed

  • Ensure that ongoing cleaning tasks are being worked on in down time

  • Work with the Tasting Room Manager to find ways to continually improve customer experience and employee satisfaction

  • Communicate item needs, maintenance and issues/mistakes with Manager and Owners

  • Ensure responsible service practices and maintain a safe environment for our employees and guests

  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Tasting Room Manager

Qualifications 

  • Must be 21 years of age

  • Knowledge of Minnesota Wines and Craft Beer preferred

  • Available to work some days, nights and Weekends

  • Demonstrate excellent customer service

  • Attention to detail and ability to multitask

  • Outgoing and inviting personality

  • Ability to establish direction and delegate

  • Ability to lift 55 pounds, move kegs and be on your feet for long periods of time

  • Positive attitude and ability to work with a diverse group of people

  • Ability to work during the week shifts

  • Potential ability to work up to 40 hours during times.
